Transgender Day of Remembrance
This will be the second annual Transgender Day of Remembrance Candle Vigil held in Seward, AK.
Transgender Day of Remembrance was founded in 1999 by a small group, including Gwendolyn Ann Smith, Nancy Nangeroni, and Jahaira DeAlto, to memorialize the murders of Black transgender women Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts, and Chanelle Pickett in Watertown, Massachusetts. The first TDoR took place in November 1999 in Boston and San Francisco, as both Hester and Pickett's deaths occurred in November. TDoR continues to be observed annually on November 20, the anniversary of Pickett's murder. In 2010, TDoR was observed in over 185 cities throughout more than 20 countries.
This year we remember the lives and stories of at least 49 transgender lives lost so far in 2026.

The site is intended to act as a supporting resource for anyone involved in Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) events and is intended to be used alongside the official data collated by the Trans Murder Monitoring Project and published by Transgender Europe (TGEU) in early November of each year.
Ride with Pride
We are excited to announce a new collaboration with Aunt May’s Taxi allowing us to provide discounted round trip travel opportunities to Anchorage for fun LGBTQIA+ affirming events.
We invite you to ride with us to the Imperial Court of All Alaska Ducal Ball 2026- Highland (Gay)mes on Sunday, November 8th. We will leave Seward by 4pm and return around 11:30pm.
Your $50 contribution covers part of the ride share cost and your admission into the event. Food and beverages will be available at the venue for purchase. This event is located in a bar, so please have a valid ID with you on the day of the trip!
We only have three seats available for this fun queer road trip!
